ANOSCETIA
~
The Anxiety of Not Knowing The Real You.
~
A small series of Six Oil Paintngs on Wood Panels, featuring panels quadruple primed by The Artist to give a unique texture, followed by extensive layers begining with an Acrylic Ground Color, slowly built up with thin layers of oil glaze.
Signed with the letter, ' M ' , on the face of the piece, and on the back of the panel, The Artist's Signature and Date are Signed in permanent marker.
The Series began as quick, random sketches in The Aritst notebook, and also, was a concept first attempted during Mellon's last year at The Trojan Studio in Turkey.
Anoscentia ( an - oh - see - sha ), is a word taken out, again, from The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, by John Koenig. Which , again, the word somehow encapsulated not just these specific images and their expression, but Mellon's work in whole.
